How long is your waiting list?
It
primarily varies by cycle and age-group. We would recommend that you
pre-enroll 18 to 24 months prior to the required start date.
How do I apply to your waiting list?
Schedule an appointment for a tour of the school,
time at which you will also receive other relevant informational
packages. You may submit the online pre-admission form however; you will
only be confirmed into the waiting list once the tour has been
completed. We believe that it is important to first see the school and
experience the environment to ensure that you’re selecting the right
school and program for your child and your family.
What is the general school calendar during the year?
We are open throughout the year (including summers), with the exception of major holidays, winter and spring breaks.
Do children start at a set date in the year?
Assuming availability, we enroll students year-round.
At what age should my child start the Montessori program?
Ideally,
at toddler-age, between ages 18 and 36 months. The Toddler Program
creates a significant foundation for the Primary program. You may of
course also enroll your child for the Primary Program at the age of 3 –
this is a three year program, including the Kindergarten year. The Elementary Program
is generally available for children who have completed the Primary
Program, although on the individual basis, we may consider students come
from other preschool and kindergarten programs.
What is the highest grade level you offer and how do I enroll in it?
At
this point, we our highest level program is Elementary, 1st through 6th
grades. Although we consider children of all academic backgrounds on an
individual basis, we recommend that children applying for the
Elementary Programs have some Montessori background. It is not an imperative but it would be highly beneficial to the progress of the child.
If
my child completes Kindergarten at Sapientia Montessori School or Cedar
Park Montessori School, can he/she easily transition into any
Elementary program?
Absolutely. Your child will most certainly be over-qualified for any traditional or public school programs, including most Private Programs
as well. We typically know our children to place 1-2 grades higher than
their age equivalent and moving into advanced curriculums.
Is it hard for my child to transition to another school after being in Montessori?
Not
at all – on the contrary, academically they will be under-challenged.
Like with any other transition, a short period of adaptation may take
place but our children are extremely prepared to adapt. Ideally of
course, given the methodology of learning and the advancement of their
development, children should remain in the Montessori program at least
through the Kindergarten year.
